The Local Choice for Teeth Whitening in Mt. Pleasant, SC

A white, dazzling smile is a must-have in today’s society. A brighter smile improves your daily interactions with others and has been associated with financial and social success. While many people, especially celebrities, who realize this simple fact often choose dental veneers or crowns for a dramatic smile makeover, there is another cosmetic procedure that is quicker, more affordable, and won’t leave your wallet empty: professional teeth whitening!

Benefits of Teeth Whitening:

  • A warmer smile
  • Improved first impressions
  • Younger looking smile
  • Increased self-confidence
  • Better job prospects

How does it work?

While there are many different types of dental whitening, they all work in the same way. A hydrogen peroxide-based agent is applied directly to the surface of the tooth. The peroxide penetrates the enamel of the tooth and breaks down stains below the surface to restore the natural whiteness of your teeth.

Store Products vs. Professional Whitening

Everyone wants a whiter smile and many companies have jumped on the whitening bandwagon by creating products that brighten your smile, such as toothpastes, mouth rinses, strips, and gels. However, store products’ ability to whiten your teeth is less effective than professional procedures. Many whitening kinds of toothpaste can only whiten your smile up to 2 shades brighter and this can take months. This is because professional procedures offer the highest strength of peroxide for a more dramatic effect in a shorter time.

Teeth Whitening Pricing

The cost of dental whitening procedures is much cheaper than cosmetic alternatives such as veneers or crowns. While there are different types of bleaching services, they are all about one-third of the cost of any other dental cosmetic service. How many bleaching procedures you undergo can also determine the cost of whitening.

Insurance, unfortunately, does not cover the cost of teeth whitening. The average cost of any whitening service can be anywhere from $400-$800, call our office for information on our competitive prices!

At our office, we also offer free take-home tooth whitening trays for every new patient that you refer! Call our office for more details about our referral program.

Zoom

At Smiling Oak Dentistry, we offer Zoom Teeth whitening. This system works by applying a whitening gel that is activated by a Zoom lamp. The process is completed in three 15 minute segments. In less than an hour, our patients leave our office with a smile that is up to 8 shades brighter!

Before the whitening procedure, our dentist will need to perform a routine cleaning and an oral examination is recommended. We suggest that any dental work be completed before the whitening process is completed.

Once you are ready, our dentist will protect your lips and gums by completely covering them. Then, he will apply for the Zoom! Teeth Whitening Gel. This gel contains hydrogen peroxide and is activated by the Zoom lamp that is applied directly to the teeth. When activated, the hydrogen peroxide releases oxygen deep into the tooth’s enamel. This process bleaches away stains.

After each 15 minute segment, our dentist will check on the progress and reapply a fresh coat of whitening gel. During the 45 minute process, you can relax, listen to music or watch a movie.

Sinsational Smile

At Smiling Oak Dentistry, we also offer Sinsational Smile– a system that works in just 20 minutes!

This in-office tooth whitening method uses soft silicone trays that allow the patient’s jaw to relax completely throughout the 20-minute procedure. These trays are filled with professional-strength whitening gel and are designed to protect the lips and gums from exposure to the bleaching agents. Once the trays are inserted into the mouth, we then use an LED accelerating light that activates the gel. The LED light also speeds up the process for a whiter smile in half the time of other methods.

This method is completely safe and effective. Studies have shown that when used on healthy, normal teeth, there are no negative effects on the tooth’s enamel. The method is also pain-free and causes little to no sensitivity during or after the procedure.

Will Professional Teeth Whitening Damage My Teeth?

While a small amount of sensitivity can occur after whitening, the procedures will not damage your teeth. All of our whitening treatments restore your teeth to their natural, glowing shade of white and have no harmful effects on the tooth’s enamel.

Our systems are both designed to protect the structure of your teeth and other oral structures. Our dentists and staff are there to monitor your progress and to make sure that you are comfortable and pain-free throughout the procedure.

Does it hurt?

As with all bleaching procedures, a small amount of sensitivity is expected after the procedure. However, after a week or so the sensitivity will disappear. During the procedure itself, however, patients experience no pain.

How long does it last?

Typically, your teeth will always be whiter than they originally were once you undergo our whitening services. However, it is important to note that the results can fade quickly and more dramatically depending on your lifestyle. Eating and drinking dark foods and drinks can stain your teeth. Other unhealthy lifestyle choices can reverse the effects as well.

With our SinSational procedure, patients can undergo multiple treatments depending on their preference. We also give you a complimentary take-home whitening pen for touch-ups. The pen can be used anywhere and helps to keep your teeth whiter for longer.

How do I take care of them?

Keeping up with healthy oral hygiene habits is a must for patients who want to maintain their newly brightened smile. Brushing at least twice a day and flossing at least once ensures that new stains will be prevented.

Tobacco, diet, and some medications may affect how long your teeth will maintain their results. We also suggest avoiding smoking or drinking and eating dark foods or drinks such as coffee, soda, berries, etc. How long your brighter smile lasts depends on how well you care for your teeth!

How do I know if these procedures are right for me?

Teeth bleaching is a great, affordable and quick way to boost your overall appearance. Our tooth whitening systems are safe and work for anybody with healthy and normal teeth. However, if you suffer from gum disease, untreated tooth decay, or other health issues, this product may not be right for you.

Additionally, prior dental work such as crowns, fillings, or veneers will not be whitened after the use of this product. While these procedures will not harm your dental work, it may cause uneven shading in your smile.
